ABOUT KATHRYN
I help people reconnect with their bodies, ease the weight of shame and stress, and build practices that feel nourishing—without pressure, perfection, or pretense.

For years, movement for me was about control—getting stronger, more flexible, pushing harder. I spent hours “doing” yoga and Pilates, chasing a sense of better. But over time, I began to notice what was missing: the stillness, breath, and self-inquiry that make movement truly healing. Discovering Yin yoga and meditation revealed a different kind of depth—one that wasn’t about achieving more but about feeling more. This deepened my understanding of yoga as a holistic practice and expanded my exploration into somatic healing, Chinese Medicine, energy work, and the nervous system. These modalities, woven together, continue to shape my approach—one rooted in mindfulness, self-compassion, and an ongoing curiosity about the body’s wisdom.

My work is centered on trauma- and shame-informed healing, nervous system support, and embodied transformation, blending mindfulness, movement, Chinese Medicine, and somatic practices like Focalizing and Hakomi. With a functional, fascia-focused approach to Yin yoga, I teach in the Grilley tradition, which integrates Hatha yoga, Tao Yin, biomechanics, Classical Chinese Medicine, and fascial science. I have advanced training in mindfulness, somatic movement, self-myofascial release (SMR), restorative yoga, and yoga for mental health, alongside experience in Vinyasa, mobility, and pre/postnatal yoga. This diverse background allows me to adapt my offerings to meet individual needs with both depth and flexibility.

Rooted in both Western science and Eastern energetics, my work integrates Five Element Theory, Taoist energetics, Buddhist meditation, Usui Reiki Ryoho, and somatic frameworks to create a practice that is both evidence-based and intuitive. Whether working with clients one-on-one or in group settings, I tailor my offerings to help people cultivate greater ease, resilience, and self-trust.

At the heart of my work is the belief that your body holds deep wisdom—and when we learn to listen, we unlock profound transformation. My goal is to help you trust your body, feel at home within yourself, and move through life with greater ease and agency.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me by the Lake, where I do some of my best unwinding. I work with clients worldwide through private sessions, group classes, and workshops—both online and in person in Chicago.

If you're looking for an intuitive, science-backed, and compassionate approach to movement and healing, let’s connect.
