FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
General Yoga and Movement
Do I need prior yoga experience to join your classes?
Not at all! Lakeside Yin embraces a functional approach to yoga, encouraging you to adapt poses to suit your body. Kathryn will guide you to focus on sensations and explore variations that feel best for you.
What should I wear and how can I make my space comfortable for online practice?
Wear whatever feels most comfortable (no need for yoga leggings unless they’re your thing!). For Yin and Restorative classes, consider having socks, layers, or a blanket on hand, as these practices may leave you feeling cool. Arrange a yoga mat or soft rug and props like blocks, a strap, a bolster, and blankets—or household substitutes like pillows and books—to create a cozy, supportive space. I created a little Welcome with a bit more information to make practicing at home feel great.
What should I avoid during practice?
Always avoid sharp pain or numbness in any pose. If you feel discomfort, adjust the intensity or ease out of the shape entirely. Rest in a comfortable pose until you’re ready to rejoin. Kathryn encourages a practice of self-compassion and exploration, emphasizing that your body’s signals are always valid and important.
